This year I abstained from going out for Halloween, although we bought white roses to celebrate.
In the old days, white roses were used to ward off evil spirits, the theory being that the ghosts would lose themselves in the folded labyrinth of the petals.*
*I have no idea of this is true.
Still, as far as evil spirits are concerned, I'd rather be armed with white roses than nothing at all.
