At the moment it's pouring rain outside, and is altogether the kind of dark, cold, November day that has seeped into the month to give us a taste of what we're in for.
This past weekend the weather was perfect, and Stephen and I walked along the banks of the Hudson where we admired a tree that seems to embody the idea that great beauty can sometimes arise through great challenges. I'm not sure the same can be said of human life, but it seems like an idea worth considering, at least as we head into the depths of fall and winter, whether the seasons are literal or something less than literal.
