For the first few years on the block, this lot (or actually three lots, or four if you include the building on the left) was used for illegal parking. They started construction maybe three or four years ago, but like many construction projects in the city, it was stalled for a long time. For the past few winters there's been little more than a pit in the ground that would freeze over like a lake. Sadly, there were many stray cats living in the nooks and crevices.
About a month ago, construction started again, and now they're working everyday. Given that a good portion of the block is burned out and abandoned, it's hard not to feel encouraged by the momentum, even if I'm a bit worried about the stray cats. "I'm very fascinated by construction." -- Elektra
