Week five, the kittens began to display a lot more energy: there was a lot of running and tussling and climbing. And some little pounces.
Or even when they weren't running around, you could tell that they were thinking about it. The future is large when you're only five weeks old.
Sneak attacks were launched (and laughed at).
Alliances were made and broken.
Some tried to escape into a quiet corner.
But the quiet never lasted, at least while everyone was awake.
The play was always very gentle and inquisitive, however: everybody loved each other and had a good time.
"Looking back, It was hard not to feel a little nostalgic for this magical time in our lives, when everything seemed very simple. At the same time, we were becoming aware of the certainty that, at some point in the near future, we would never be together again." -- Kitten at Week Five, discussing Week Four
"Still, we were too young to be inhibited by such melancholy. We were carefree and life seemed to be filled with potential. Pain and sorrow were still abstract."
"Of course our mother shielded us from so much."
"I personally think children today are a bit too sheltered? It's time to learn the truth about flying snakes." -- Elektra
"Let us pray to the god of the gray cats to let all of the kittens grow strong and be happy and to pass through this world without causing misery or having misery inflicted upon them, and to sometimes enjoy saucers of milk even if it's the equivalent of feline junk food." -- Dante
"Let each of us bloom like a blue flower in a field of green."
"Or yellow, even though it's just a lil clover weed."
"Where are all the kittens? Are they in the sky?" -- Zephyr
"Not yet, but if you look closely, you will see their little blue souls taking off in great swarms."
